The Tarpon Pipe Story
Tarpon Pipe is the newest chapter in a legacy that began in 1951 with D.W. “Dave” Peters, a pioneer in oilfield sales whose career helped shape decades of pipe supply across Texas and beyond.
After building experience with Homco in Odessa and Liberty Manufacturing in Fort Worth, Dave founded Mutual Pipe and Supply in Houston in 1971. In 1985, he refocused the business under the name Tarpon Sales & Rentals, concentrating on pipe sales and service.
In 1996, Dave’s son, Alan Peters—a petroleum engineer with expertise in downhole tools and well completions—joined the business. Two years later, Alan founded Tarpon Industries Corp., specializing in inventory-based pipe supply and inspected used pipe reclamation.
Following Dave’s passing, the companies were unified in 2007 as Tarpon Pipe & Supply, LP. Over time, the business evolved alongside the industry, guided by experience, adaptability, and strong leadership.
Today, Tarpon Pipe operates as a restructured, focused organization under the leadership of Alan Peters, alongside long-time partners Bob Kelly (General Manager) and Tim Spencer (Chief Financial Officer).
